…you might want to try it out on your hubby and puppy.

And while they might be cooperative at first, they will eventually tire of your picture taking and try to hide….

…or complain that the flash is hurting their eyes.

Or maybe even turn the camera on you! (Note the puppy’s “Please leave me alone so I can nap” look.)

Today I invested in my first digital SLR camera, a Nikon D5000. I’ve been saving up birthday money and such for awhile now and found a good package deal that I went ahead and bought today. It was really scary spending that much money on a camera, but I like it so far. I obviously know very little, but I’m looking forward to learning all that it can do.
Sam: Did I say that or did I just think it?
Me: You said it.
Sam: Oh… I call that a Meredith moment.
It’s still a little weird to me that earlier this week I turned 25. Twenty-five seems like it should be a momentus age. Something about 25 sounds so much more… womanly. Like I’m not such a kid anymore… Of course that’s not really true. I’ll always be a big kid.
I had a wonderful birthday. I tend to celebrate my birthday for an entire month. The celebration really started when one of my best friends, Michelle, who was visiting had lunch with me and gave me her gifts before flying back home. Then followed by family birthdays celebrations, gifts from my husband and puppy (yes, my dog), the actual birthday itself, and then more friends stopping by later in the week to celebrate. I also have plans to spend time with a few more friends this upcoming week. That’s one of my favorite things about my birthday, being able to spend time with people I love.
And check out these beautiful flowers my hubby sent to my work:

Aren’t they pretty?!
